![]() If you compare digital to analog, 16 bit can be compared to 1/4" tape, 24 bit to 1/2" tape, 32 bit to 1" tape, 44.1 to 3 3/4 ips, 96 to 7 1/2 ips, 192 to 15 ips, and 384 to 30 ips. After the final remastered file, they were dithered down to 16/44.1. They were dithered down to 24/44.1 for editing, equalization, and compression. ![]() ![]() The Beatles original masters were transferred flat 24/192. The Beatles 24 bit files at 44.1 are the master source for the consumer. I've listened and compared all sources and this is what I've come up with and listen to: I have all the Beatles solo high resolution files and their 16 bit counterparts. I am writing this not so much for discussion but for someone who is interested in possibly upgrading what they have. If you have ears, hopefully you can hear. I was reading an old thread of people asking about which are best, the USB 24 bit / 44.1 files or the 16 bit cds.
